Shelf Control: April 21st 2016.

Shelves final

Shelf control is a weekly feature over at Bookshelf Fantasies. Instead of being about books that we want to buy it’s about books that we already own but are yet to read.

My Shelf Control pick is:

The Axe and the Throne (Bounds of Redemption book 1).

M.D Ireman.

17th January 2016.

538 pages.

It is a fool’s errand and Tallos knows it, but against his own better judgment and the pleading of his wife, Tallos has committed himself to a voyage north. His lifelong friend’s eldest sons are said to have been taken by Northmen, a raiding people ill-reputed for their savagery. The boys are already dead, Tallos knows, and in that dark place of grim reasoning he wishes only to find their corpses quickly so he can fulfil his promise and return to his wife. Instead, he finds something far worse.

How I got it:

Perusing the Kindle fantasy books on Amazon and the cover caught my eye.

When I got it:

January 2016.

Why I want to read it:

The cover caught my eye, I think it’s a quality cover that while quite generic to the genre also stands out, it doesn’t have lots of bright and gaudy colours on it, it’s quite plain and muted but there was just something about the white mountains in the background and the character standing with axe out that appealed to me, it’s also a fantasy book which is my favoured book genre and the synopsis sounded interesting.
