Friday Face-Off · Various Things

Friday Face-Off-22nd April 2016.

The Friday Face-Off is a new meme created by Books by Proxy, where the idea is to compare the UK and US covers of a book with each week  being a certain theme, this week’s theme is: Dead men tell no tales and relates to death.

Unfortunately I was rather busy yesterday and was unable to find the time to post my choice, apologies to everyone that it is a day late and in honour of my love of wrestling, apologies to Proxyfish to, no offence is meant as it’s her meme but for one time only I’m going to class the Friday face-Off as the Saturday Smackdown.

For the theme this week I have chosen, The Shotgun Arcana (Six Gun Tarot book 2) by R.S. Belcher. I’ve never read the book but as I was perusing the cover just jumped out at me.

UK cover:

US cover:

The covers are very different and both have aspects that I like about them, but the winner this week is……….

The Winner:

The UK cover, while the US cover features a sinister looking character complete with gun belt and holding a skull for me the UK one takes it, I like the old Clint Eastwood westerns and the Red Dead Redemption game and there’s just something about the UK cover that harkens back to traditional westerns for me with the sheriff’s star and the skull with wings that whilst looking quite old and nostalgic, also looks awesome and reminds me of the ‘wanted’ posters you see in westerns.

  1. I didn’t even know this one had a UK cover! It’s so cool, too. However, I think this is one of those cases where I have to call a draw. The art styles are so completely different, but are both great looking in their own ways! (Now I’m going to go and look up the first book to see if it has a UK cover too and what it looks like – I really liked Six Gun Tarot, but it’s taking me a while to get to this sequel.)
