The Friday Face-Off is a new meme created by Books by Proxy, where the idea is to compare the UK and US covers of a book with each week being a certain theme, this week’s theme is a cover which features Weapons.
For the theme this week I have chosen: Gardens of the Moon (The Malazan Book of the Fallen Book 1) by Steven Erikson.
Instead of just comparing the Uk and US cover, For the Face-Off this week I’m going to give you a choice of 5 different covers, labelling them A through to E.
Cover A:
Cover B:
Cover C:
Cover D:
Cover E:
The Winner: Cover E:
I hadn’t actually seen this cover until I decided to choose the book for the face-off this week (I only own the Kindle edition) however as soon as I saw this version I thought it looked great, I admit the font isn’t the best but the depiction of Anomander Rake and his sword Dragnipur is pure awesome.
Thoughts?? Agree?? Disagree??
I totally agree with you this week, that cover makes me want to read the book!

Okay, I’m going to be the odd ball and say A or B. I can’t decide whether I like the purple or green cover more.

I LOVE the cover with Anomander Rake! I’d love to find that edition somewhere. The first one (A) is my second favorite.

I do like the purple and green covers, but some of that is partly due to I’m used to seeing that particular design. I have to agree with your choice. That cover is great.

Ooo… what a lovely bunch of covers, overall! I’ve never quite got around to reading this series – and yes. I have to say – your choice is also my favourite. And a close second is the purple one:).

It’s a great series overall though very time consuming and there’s many many pages or thousands upon thousands of Kindle locations over the ten books. 😂

I’m a fan of cover B!

Yep, Cover E for me as well. With Cover A (or B?) as the runner-up(s)

I’m digging the old-fashioned feel of C, but as soon as I saw E – I knew it was the winner. The font; the warrior guy with her hair wrapping around the sword (so badass!); that background with birds is epic too!

Completely agreed with your choice. I don’t know what it is about Cover E, I was immediately drawn to it. Maybe it’s those long, beautiful white flowing locks…

Cover A and B actually look really similar- but I agree with your choice- that cover is the most epic!!

I agree. I also like the color used for that cover. I like C as well because of the lightning power dancing on it.

just wish they showed Crone a bit closer to Rake like on his shoulder or something , I like Crone

I like that cover but I’ve got to say I really like cover A, but then I always like dark intriguing covers.
