The Friday Face-Off is a new meme created by Books by Proxy, where the idea is to compare the UK and US covers of a book with each week  being a certain theme, this week’s theme is a Scarlet Harlot! – Sorry couldn’t resist that one! 🙂 A cover featuring a lady in red.

This week I have chosen: Red Queen by Christina Henry:

For those of you following my blog you will know that it’s the book I’m currently reading and did for the Teaser Tuesday meme this week but……….while it couldbe deemed to be a cop-out the cover just really stood out for me as it features a lady in red and she screamed choose me for the Face-Off and like a loyal sservant I obeyed as who would want to disobey a queen! 🙂

The Winner: UK.

I just prefer the more contemporary art style on the UK cover than the classic look on the US.

Thoughts?? Agree?? DiDisagree??

  1. Yeah, this one is a no brainer. The US cover is hideous. Yuck! I would never want to buy that. Now I’m sad that I already bought the first book and will have to look at that thing when it comes time to read the sequel. Scarlet Harlot was really this week’s theme? Lol. Yay for whoever thought that one up. 🤗

  2. UK cover all the way, brother. The US cover is . . . quite strange to me. On the other hand, the UK cover is so elegant and whimsical looking it makes me want to find out what is going on in there.

  3. Oh yes – what a great choice, Drew – damn you’re good at this FF malarky:)). And I wholly concur with everyone else – there is no contest… the UK cover just nails it.

    1. I think it was more luck that I happened to be reading a book with a Red lady on the cover, I’d like to think it was karma ‘giving me’ one after how much hassle I had finding a book with an explosion on a few weeks previous, that was a nightmare!

Sorry to ask you but I’ve looked on BooksbyProxy and couldn’t find it, do you know what next week’s Face-Off theme is? 🙂

      1. No, according to Lynn this is as far as she’s gone, so perhaps you, me and Lynn could get together and suggest a temporary 3 week mini-prog in case she doesn’t make it back? One suggestion each? – What do you think?

  4. Only just seen the comment about themes – I definitely thing we should come up with a few themes and submit them to Booksbyproxy for future weeks – we could perhaps just agree a topic for next week? Does anybody have a suggestion – I’m happy to suggest something and equally happy to take suggestions?

    1. Neither me nor Sjhigbee knew the themes for the previous two weeks, that’s how we ended up with animals on the cover and a favourite book for the week before that as we couldn’t find the themes on booksbyproxy. I think because of that, as we already picked are own theme that it’s only fair you choose the theme for this week. 😊
