6 Month Blogging Anniversary and Poetry Contest.

Today is the 6 month anniversary of my blog. Yes, my humble small section of the book blogging community known as TheTattooedBookGeek has managed to face down marauding hordes of Demons, hacking and slashing (gaming reference) it’s way to a small modicum of achievement.

Firstly, it was 500 followers and now it’s 6 months of blogging. Thank you to all of you for reading my babbling reviews and misery/poetry and for liking, commenting, sharing and following. It’s all really appreciated and also a massive thanks for making me feel like a member of the book blogger community and not an outsider.

As it’s been mentioned before I’m not perhaps a typical book blogger (though I still haven’t been told why) so on that technicality I could quite easily skip this but I thought what the hell and why not!

So, I have decided to run a giveaway contest. Now, I like to do things differently and so, as I write poetry, I’m making it a poetry contest.

There will be two prizes a first place and a runner-up, the first place prize is a book/books upto the value of £15 (English pounds) with the runner-up prize being a book upto the value of £10 (English pounds). The book/books willbe shipped from the Book Depository, so if they ship to your country then you can enter, simples!

The Rules:

400x225-contest-rules-copy1

1 – The poem canbe on any subject, something dark, something light, something meaningful, something funny, the choice is upto you.
2 – The poem canbe in any style or form you want it to be (I write simple rhyming style but there’s countless other styles out there to use).
3 – Either leave your poem in the comments section of this post below or write a post on your own blog but if you do, please remember to link it back to this post so I can check it out.
4 – I will pick the winner and runner-up myself.
5 – The contest is open for one week from today – running from Monday 5th September to Monday 12th September.
6 – On the 13th September I will pick the winner/runner-up and will then contact them by the contact feature on their blog, telling them  that they have won/runner-up and requesting their address and the book/books they would like. I will also then write a blog post announcing the winner and runner-up including their poems.
7 – For the book/books to be shipped to you, you will need to give me your postal address and name – unless your happy to have your blogs name on the package. I will then email you when the order has been despatched by the Book Depository. I’m a genuine guy and after you have received the book I will delete your address. All I ask is you let me know when you receive the book (I’m from the UK, the postal service here isn’t great and things sometimes go missing so I’m not sure what will happen with international shipping – and if your from the UK then we have to trust in Royal Mail “shudders”.

      1. I just do, it perhaps sounds weird but I worry more about posting my reviews than the poetry! I’m not that eloquent with the prose and don’t use big words so I think, shit, my review is crap but with poetry I try to write with meaning and either people will see the meaning in the words or they wont’t. 🙂

    1. Thanks, will check the poem out. 😀

I actually find posting poetry easy, I try to write things that have meaning in and either people will like it, relate to it, see the meaning in it or they won’t but it mainly holds some sort of meaning to me. Whereas I dread posting book reviews as even after six months I’m still not confident in my reviewing ability.

      1. I really like your reviews though! The way you write them is like you’re just talking to me about the book and why you thought what you did of it. It’s quite helpful (though my TBR is bursting) 🙂

  4. Congrats on the 6 month blogiversary. If I had 2 seconds to write a poem I would totally enter this. I have lots sitting mind you but I get the feeling this is for just written poems so they can stay just written. I will reblog this though and if inspiration strikes before the day is done I will pop a entry in 🙂

  5. Sorry I missed the contest. I’ve been away for the last week and am still all back and forth, (getting ready to move). I didn’t intentionally miss it, I just haven’t written any poetry in the last week – I still haven’t :o!
