The Friday Face-Off is a new meme created by Books by Proxy, where the idea is to compare the UK and US covers of a book with each week being a certain theme, this week’s theme is: “consumed by the darkness within, it hides all our sins” a cover that is predominantly black/dark.
For the theme this week I have chosen: Magician (The Rift War Saga Book 1) by Raymond E. Feist.
Cover A:
Cover B:
Cover C:
Cover D:
Cover E:
Cover F:
Cover G:
Cover H:
Cover C:
I just really like the overall simplicity of this cover but cover H was a very close second.
Thoughts?? Agree?? Disagree??
Why not join in with next weeks theme: 14th October: There was once a princess, who lived in the top of the highest tower – a cover with a castle.

Agree on the C.. but I also like B as well.. there’s something about it… like 3D effect 🙂 And then, H is cool as well… that world looks nice if somewhat foggy 🙂 But there can be only one!

True, it was a tough choice between the two. 🙂

D and H, but I’m so used to seeing this cover https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2932929-magi-r that it’s weird to see the others, though :D.

My favorites are B (because it’s so simple), G (because the landscape), and H (because the architecture).

I also like cover C. That’s the best one. The black and the keys is sort of creepy.

I hadn’t thought of that but you have a point, it could be construed as creepy. 😀

I am not sure why, but something about A appeals to me. It may be that the cover reminds me of the Pillars of The Earth edition of I have (love that book). I always enjoy these. Sometimes I forget just how many variations there can be!

Agreed with C , though i did find B pretty eye-catching , but then again it would be cheating if the cover which actually was filled with black didn’t win 😆

Sorry I’m late – I thought I’d left a comment here but obviously not! I like your choice this week, very fitting for the theme and I also like cover B – which just appeals to me.

Cover H got me. I love that foggy/smoky background with just a pop of red.
