The Friday Face-Off is a meme originally created by Books by Proxy, where the idea is to compare the different covers of a book with each week being a certain theme.
This weeks theme is: Clown “Nobody likes a clown at midnight“ and I have chosen:
It by Stephen King.
Cover H:
I just really like the design on this cover, simple yet sinister. The graphic of the nose and mouth looks like it is drawn in crayon which adds to the overall effect.
Thoughts?? Agree?? Disagree??
Now, this is the last Face-Off post that I’m going to be doing for a while, it’s not actually ‘goodbye’ and more ‘see you around’ as I have the themes for the next 6 months and will still occasionally participate in the meme. It’s one of my favourites, seeing the various covers from around the world and for the older books, seeing how the cover aesthetics have changed over time. But, on the other-hand finding books that fit the weeks theme can be a nightmare at times to.
There’s still going to be other awesome bloggers out there that do the meme and I will look forward to seeing what books and covers they choose each week but for me, I’ve decided to step away for a while. One of the best bits about the meme is all the comments and seeing what covers you would all pick and while you won’t see the Face-Off for a while I hope you will still stick with my blog. 🙂
You may ask, if you’re not doing the Face-Off any more Drew, what are you going to do on a Friday? Well, the answer is, wait and see, depending on how much procrastinating I end up doing, I have an idea for a new feature that I will be doing each Friday and it should debut either next Friday or at the latest the Friday after and while it won’t be cover related I hope you will still check it out.
Follow me on:
My favourite is E. Balloons have such a big part of the story. The one with the mouth is a close 2nd for me.
Curious about your new feature. Thinking of coing something myself. I have on Sunday that I am going to start. Need more.

Features nothing special, just something simple and different instead of covers. I like this feature but when you don’t know a book that fits in with the theme it can be a real nightmare trying to find one.

Oooooh… a new feature? Sounds interesting 🙂
I was going to go for H as well! 🙂 I still haven’t read The Stand, even though I was planning to over xmas… meh… the book just looks so bloody daunting! 😀

The Stand is awesome, I haven’t read IT but I know it’s about the same length as The Stand and over 1,000 pages to, certainly huge books!😂

ugh… ain’t nobody got time for a 1000+ pages! 😀 ha, that sounds mean…

Thanks for the tag, I’ll see about doing it, time dependant but if not I’ll answer your questions in the comments on your post.😀

I met my match here…:) Sorry to lose you from the Friday Face-off team, but as you say – plenty of others can join in. Looking forward to see what your Friday blog will bring – I’m sure whatever it is, it will be readable and entertaining!

Thanks, it’ll be cool to do something a bit different, whether or not it is well received remains to be seen, I think it’s a cool and simple idea though so we shall see. 🙂
I shall still do the Face-Off on occasion, I have the themes and it will return. 🙂

For once, I completely agree! I feel like cover H is simple yet enticing and fits the book so well.

Lol, we agree, something very strange is happening! 😉

I know right! We’ve been doing that a lot lately. 2017 is starting out scary….

I agree with the winning design but I also like F as well. Very creepy.

Nice choice! I think I have to agree. It’s simple but really to the point & strange/spoopy. Perfect!!!

True, simple but a very effective cover and spooky to. 🙂

I like A and F. You know they are doing a new IT movie? I think IT will be scarier. I hate that you won’t be doing these anymore. I always look forward to them every Friday.

I’ll still be doing them on occasion, it just takes a lot of time to find books for the theme and I want to try something a bit different for a while.
I’ve read about the new IT movie, should be really good though I haven’t read the book yet.😂

Totally Agree with the choice of book for this weeks topic , I actually did comment on @sjhigbee ‘s Friday Face-off about Choosing “IT” (especially considering today being Friday the 13th and all )
Meanwhile I do agree with your choice of cover , sadly I own the Cover “B” which doesn’t really look much 😦

Ha true, Friday the 13th, well it just had to be IT!😀 I did see your comment on Sarah’s post.😀

I actually like C the best. I like covers that are vague though for some reason.

I also went with IT – I simply couldn’t think of another cover! I know what you mean about it being tough to find some covers – I hope you’ll still join in occasionally though.

Oh I’ll still join in on occasion, I’ve got the themes, I just want to try my own thing, it may not do well, have to see but while I really like the face-off finding books for themes can be hard and hence why I’m taking a step away.😀

I’m going to miss this meme! I’m curious to see what the new feature will be though. H is a great cover! A and F are closely behind it for me 😀

It’s not completely going, it’ll be back on occasion.😀

That is definitely the creepy cover I would have picked. Can’t wait to see your new feature!

It’s definitely creepy. Thanks, it’s nothing special but I need a break from trying to find books that fit the theme and thought I’d try something different, may go down well, may not, I’ll see next week.😂

I agree but I like C. It’s clasic

Sounding off with “It”.. hmmmm good choice I think. I was growing a bit concerned when I saw you tackling some themes that had you looking at YA 😉 I will still look forward to these when you choose to participate though. I am not sure I follow anyone else who does this meme regularly. I love seeing the covers and being reminded that ours suck haha.
Anyways, setting a record this week.. I “agree” with your choice here. But D and E hold pretty true to the story. I will never walk past a storm drain again without a hint of fear.

Ha, trust me, I feel my own shame that I had to resort to using baby books for theme choices for a couple of weeks!😢
There’s only 4 bloggers, including me that do the face-off each week, a couple do it on occasion to though.
Lol, damn, it’s weird when people agree with me!😂

Haha the shame! Do you have anything else planned as a regular post?

Actually, yes, I do!😉

Oooohhh… the suspense is killing me! I have a few that I want to initiate on a regular basis but with my “never known when I am going to be down and out” schedule, I am hesitant haha. I cannot wait to see what you have lined up 😉

I went with cover B…possibly the lesser sinister option because I’d rather not be frightened while reaching for my book lol. Your fave def fits the bill for most sinister *covers eyes* lol can’t wait to see what new feature you’ve come up with 🙂

Woohoo, sinister all the way!😂 Nothing groundbreaking and it’s probably done on other blogs to but I need a break from trying to find a book that fits the theme each week for the face-off, it’s easy if you know a book but if you don’t then it can take ages attempting to find one.

Understandable, you are really good at it but I don’t know how you manage to nail it every week lol. Whelp, good while it lasted on to the next thing 😉

ha, it’ll be back at some point. 🙂
We shall see how well the new thing goes, fingers crossed but it could be an epic fail to. 🙂

I 100% agree with your choice again! Cover C was the cover of the paperback I read back in the early 90s. 🙂

Ha, this is really weird, lots of people agreeing with me, strange! 🙂 I haven’t read the book yet.

I would have to agree I like the last cover. So fitting for the book.

Yup! Definitely agree that’s the best cover by far! Looking forward to what you do on Fridays in the future!

God No! I know who ICP are, I’m a wrestling fan and know they used to be in WCW years back and the music channels occasionally play one of their songs, homies?? I think it is, I’m not a rap fan, I’m a rock and metal boy! 🙂
