Book Post is a truly outstanding treat when it arrives! Well, for me it is, unfortunately for all of you it means that you once again get to see my atrocious photo taking of the arrived book!
Today’s book haul is bought to you courtesy of the lovely people at Bloomsbury and is for: Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman released on February 7th 2017.
Now, you may wonder how I have received this from the publisher after the actual release date and you may also have noticed that it isn’t even an ARC but a proper finished hardback copy. And the answer is I really don’t know!
I emailed Bloomsbury for a copy many weeks ago now, back last year after failing to win the Goodreads giveaway when it was open and I had given up on getting an ARC after hearing nothing back from them, only to receive an email from one of the publicists on Tuesday (7th Feb, the books release day) saying that they had a copy for me and were sending it out! To call me shocked is an understatement and then when the book arrived as you can see and I mentioned, it was the finished copy! I’m not sure what I did to deserve this wonderous bounty but karma must have been smiling on me, who says it doesn’t pay to be bad!!!! 🙂
This will be my first foray into the work of Gaiman, I’m popping my cherry with Norse Mythology and now I’m off to buy some scented candles, chocolate and wine for some alone time with the book! 🙂

I work with several publishers who send out finished copies. I’m always surprised because they cost more, but I find it such a nice gesture:-) Enjoy your alone time;-)

I’ve received quite a few finished copies to, always nice when it is a finished copy but it’s not something to expect, was just really surprised by this one as it was sent on the release day and I had seen lots of the paperback ARC’s around, but it’s cool, can’t complain. 🙂

Lol at referring to it as a ‘good deal’ I like to think that the publisher saw how awesome my blog is and decided that only a finished copy would do!😂

Enjoy! I’m also awful at taking photo’s of books.. that’s why most of my images are taken from Goodreads lol

Thank you and lol, I just use the covers most of the time but for book haul posts I do attempt a photo of the actual book but that’s as good as it will ever get ‘attempting a photo’ I’m definitely not cut out for book photos!😂

well You are amazingly lucky to obtain a hardcover of Gaiman’s work , Meanwhile congrats on losing your …err .. Gaiman-virginity? I still havent read any of his novel work, I have read his comics though i.e Sandman and I want to read his American Gods book before the TV show airs this year

I am a huge NG fan, so I am jealous you received this one for free! HOWEVER I also got a copy on release day… a SIGNED copy 🙂 My local bookstore had a few signed copies and I happened to snag one. I hope you enjoy it.

Awesome, signed books are great. It’s my first Gaiman book and I like Norse stuff to so should be good.😀

I love books in the mail too. It’s always a good day to see a book-sized package waiting for you when you get home. I really want this book. I haven’t thought of that – emailing the publisher. I might have to try that trick!

This is true, nothing beats a book shaped package……unless of course it turns out not to be a book!😞
I often email publishers, either to enquire about going on there mailing list or to ask about a certain book.😀

This is a great rendition of Norse mythology from what I can tell so far. To be honest, I am more familiar with Greek.. but I am going off of my little knowledge. It reads more like a classic story and not some sort of retelling. I am really enjoying. The book is gorgeous as well. I am so heppy to se it arrived. I think you will like this one maybe 😉

Good so far, didn’t get much read though yet unfortunately.😞

Hope you enjoy this one – I’ll certainly pick it up at some point. I really like Gaiman. I thought I might try to read American Gods first which I’ve had a copy of for ages.
Enjoy.

The same thing happened to me: I requested Corruption for review before the book came out. I didn’t hear anything for a long time, and then suddenly I got an email letting me know a copy was on its way! And it came as a finished copy!
This was HarperCollins but I’m not surprised now that it happened to you…maybe they run out of ARC copies but still have certain ppl on a list that they want to send copies to? That is the only thing I can think of as a reason!
LikeLiked by 1 person
Ha, in the UK lots of publishers send out the finished copies for review and not ARC’s. But you have a point about people on a list however, I hadn’t requested anything from them before so couldn’t have been on their list!😂🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀
