A Poem: The Living and The Lost

poemlivinglost

I gave you my all,

Everything I had to give,

Then I turned my back,

Walked away from life,

Far from the hurting,

Keeping it locked,

Buried on the inside,

Erasing the time,

When my innocence died,

I’m still holding on,

To what came before,

Somewhere in the past,

Far beyond the fall,

Bound by my chains,

This prison,

This cell,

Devices of my own making,

All that’s left are scars,

Reminders of my own hate,

Now you’ll find me,

With a heart turned to frost,

If you’re out there,

Please meet me,

Halfway,

Between the living and the lost.
