Music Monday

Music Monday: Home Is Where The Heart Is by Any Given Day

MusicMonday

Happy Monday everyone! Today I bring to you all a brand spanking new and extremely simple meme (if anyone else bothers with it otherwise it’ll just be on my blog) called Music Monday, really catchy title huh?? Where I showcase a song that I really like.

I know, I know, I have a book blog and this isn’t book related! Truly, I apologise for the travesty of such a grievous offence!

Anyhow, most of my posts (if I continue with it, we shall see if it’s popular or not) will be about rock and metal bands and songs as that is the music genre that I like. However, if anyone wants to participate then please feel free regardless of what genre of music you listen to and have a go and please let me know what you think of the idea. 🙂

For today’s very first Music Monday I have chosen a song by the German band Any Given Day, not a well-known band but in my opinion, they are awesome and deserve more recognition.

Any Given Day: Home Is Where The Heart Is.

The weight of the world lays on my shoulders
I carry it as long as I exist
The strain of life is pushing me forward
and I will never let it go

Wind blows through sails on heavy seas
holding with both hands tight the helm
Even surrendering won´t ease the pain
looking ahead and never go back again

There is a fire burning deep inside
it´s my redemption and I decide
Count my blessings – touch my face
I close my eyes in these times of grace

In time the sun´s gonna shine on me
my longest way home
the hardest path of destiny

The weight of the world lays on my shoulders
I carry it as long as I exist
The strain of life is pushing me forward
and I will never let it go

I´m searching for freedom – all I found were chains
I´m looking for love – but all I found was hate
To find it cost me everything I had
and to get it takes everything I am

This moment is all that matters
Weigh the anchor in the eye of the storm

HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS

  1. Love this meme! I’m going to keep it in mind for when I’ve wound my blog down a bit it will be fun to spread the metal love a bit!
Any Given Day are brilliant but I actually didn’t know this track so thanks for sharing! 😀 I need to go brush up on their music a bit more!

  2. Love this meme! Will have to listen to the track later (mini is winding down for bedtime & would probably end up dancing again!)

      1. She would, she’s a big fan of Metallica 😂 Her parents are rockers (well her mam is a punk rock fan) so she quite often dances along to some strange music

  3. Joh, when i saw that first few seconds i was like” big dude, incoming grindcore!” , then i heard clean vocals for a bit and it was pretty good, then it got a bit djenty(not a bad thing) with some vocals that are i normaly ascribe to grindcore… pleasant surprize Drew . Thank you for sharing

  4. This is a cool segment! I always love when bloggers branch out into other things they’re interested in, makes for a really interesting blog, and you get a better sense of the blogger as a person. I feel like I’ve heard of this band because the name sounds familiar, but I could be wrong. The song you chose was really good, I like it, it’s a good mix of heavy rock and a softer chorus.

  5. Ooo I’ve never heard of this band but I’m definitely going to check them out! I love music that’s not only intense, but also has meaningful lyrics. Music is such a integral part of my everyday existence so I’m excited to see what other songs you showcase in Mondays to come 😀

    1. Yeah, that’s true and I’m the same, shudders that I agree with you on something!😂 definitely like meaningful lyrics or at least lyrics that I can relate too.

Ha, bound to be metal songs! Feel free to join in if you want, it’s supposed to be a meme.😀

      1. Haha aww c’mon, it’s not that awful to know we have the same view on some things, surely? 😛
I might just do that! I gave up on a recently weekly meme because I was finding it a bit boring, but this is something that I’d find more interesting to take part in! 😛 I have songs for about the 100 Mondays lined up, I think 😛

      2. It’s horrifying, truly horrifying! Obviously I’m down with the kids to agree with such a young Sproglet!😂

Eurgh, I take it you mean the WWW meme, I never liked that probably due to being a mood reader and hardly ever knowing what I want to read next!😂

Lmao 100 Mondays! I like music, don’t listen to it as much as I once did but I’m a big music fan and that’s why I thought I’d do this. I’d been reading A history of heavy metal and it was like, yeah, music and let’s do Music Monday, just simple and fun or fun for me anyway as I can listen to music while drafting the posts – which I did this afternoon for the upcoming weeks.😀👌

      3. ‘Such a young Sproglet’!? Now listen here, pal, I’m 25 in less than two months! Nearly as old you!
That’s exactly my issue with that meme! I found I’d say I’d read one book…and then find I was in the mood for something of a completely different genre. Plus I kept getting mixed up with the days of the week because, y’know, shift work ;( Relying on you to remind me of Music Monday 😛
Ooo I actually picked up that book in Waterstones the other day because I saw it on your blog! I didn’t buy it, though, because while I like heavy metal, I’m not as clued up on it as you!

      4. Lmao, forgetting and mixing up the days!😂 I guess with the WWW posts that you can’t really draft them up until you know what you’ve finished, reading and are reading next which is why music Monday or other memes like waiting on wednesday are cool because you can just draft them up and schedule them, no faffing around with what to read next, etc.

Buy a book?! It’s on bookbridgr, join and request, free books. 👌

Ha, nearly as old as me, chillax Sproglet, you are female and moaning cos I called you young! Just wait until people start calling you old then you’ll yearn for the days when they thought you were young!😂😂😂

  6. Ahhh! Yes! Love this meme and I will certainly try to participate next Monday… have to spread a bit of rock/metal love! 🙂 no matter how unpopular it may be! 😀
Talking of music, I was at a wedding, scrolling through the laptop which was the DJ once the time came for only the hardcore drinkers to stay up partying 😛 and I couldn’t even find AC/DC… like what the hell… but they did have jazz covers of rock tunes and they were just NO! no! no! and one more time- NO! sacrilege of the highest order! 😛 😀 I know jazz is a rather refined taste but my brain can’t handle it at all, jazz to me sounds like sacrilege!
anywhoo… I’m going to listen to that song now you posted! I’m sure it’s good! 🙂

    1. No classic rock us bad enough but to actually have covers of classic rocks songs is even worse! I mean, just use the original version!

Jazz might well be an acquired taste but it’s definitely not for me. The only thing that could have made it worse would be if there was a ‘smooth’ in front of the jazz, smooth jazz, absolute shudders!😂
