A Poem: Control


I can’t control the voices in my head,

The ones that whisper,

That tell me I’d be better of dead,

I can’t control the pain in my mind,

The words cut deep,

Searching for the peace I’ll never find,

I can’t control the tears in my eyes,

That soulless gaze,

The hurt I can’t ever hide,

I can’t control the darkness,

The demon inside,

I’m forever heartless,

I can’t control what lives in me,

The emptiness within,

Asking, will I ever be free……

  1. A powerful, emotive piece! Those first three lines really struck a chord with me. Those voices are all too familiar! (but you’ve gotta ignore them, okay?)
    I know you don’t agree, but you’re a very talented poet!
