My Newest Book Haul

Happy Saturday morning everyone, whether you be spending it chilling and reading or out and about socialising I hope that you all have a fantastic weekend. 🙂

These are my recently acquired books, as always thanks to the publishers and publicists for sending me this wondrous bounty.

Mageborn (Age of Dread #1) by Stephen Aryan.

Published by Orbit. Released on October 5th (UK).

I haven’t read the authors previous trilogy but this looks and sounds intriguing so fingers crossed that it is good. 🙂

Split Feather (Daughter of the Midnight Sun #1) by Deborah A. Wolf.

Published by Titan. Released September 12th (UK).

I really enjoyed Wolf’s previous book The Dragon’s Legacy when it was released earlier this year and so, I am intrigued to read her Urban fantasy book. Though, Urban fantasy isn’t my jam so we shall see how I get on with it.

Siggy Aleksov sees demons and talks with creatures she knows aren’t really there. Taken from her family as a child, she is dogged by memories of abandonment, abuse, and mental health issues. Siggy suffers from a hot temper, cluster headaches, caffeine addiction, and terminal foul language.

She complicates her life even more when she saves the life of a talented assassin sent to kill her. Deciding to get the hell out of Dodge, Siggy travels to the Alaska bush to find out who she really is. The answer is more fantastic that she could have imagined and she can imagine a lot.

Senlin Ascends (Book One of the Books of Babel) by Josiah Bancroft.

This is an ARC copy and it’s not out until January so I may well put it on the backburner for a while and save it for Christmas time and those cold, dark and lonely nights. 😦 The book was originally self-published and I have read some fantastic reviews from my fellow bloggers for it. So, I have high hopes that it will be an amazing read. 🙂

This isn’t actually a book for me but one that I picked up brand new from the second-hand books bookshelf where I work. Alas, Mother Tattooed Book Geek isn’t a fan of fantasy and enjoys crime/thriller books. I saw this, thought that it sounded interesting and picked it up for her. Have any of you crime bloggers read it? Is it any good?
