TTBG'sAre YouaBadBook BloggerQuiz-1

Welcome to TTBG’s are you a bad book blogger quiz! Let’s start the new year off with a controversial bang shall we?! It’s safe to say that this is one of those posts I probably shouldn’t have posted and will result in panties getting bunched by some but it’s meant to be in the vein of satire so smile.๐Ÿ˜‚

Onto the quiz!ย

1). Are you a book blogger?

Yes No

Well, duh! Obviously! Yes! Though at times, I might refer to myself as a book f’n blogger.๐Ÿ˜‚ For those unaware f’n is an abbreviation of fucking! Cos sometimes book blogger is such a mundane term it’s nice to spice it up a little and add a bit of sauce!

Other terms are available and you could also call yourselves a book blogging god or book blogging goddess. The King of book blogging or the Queen of book blogging. The mayor of blogging town or the mayoress of blogging town. Or, the champion of book blogging.

2). Do you have 100 or more followers?

Yes No

Yes, I do, some people have taste and follow greatness.๐Ÿ˜‚

3). Do you have 1,000 or more followers?

Yes No

Yes, again, surprisingly I most certainly diddly doodly do.

4). Do you have 10,000 or more followers?

Yes No

No! Nowhere near that gigantic stratospheric number! Ooohhh Stratospheric has Stratos at the beginning which sounds like Stratus as in WWE legend Trish Stratus!

This is most displeasing actually! Why do I not have 10,000+ followers?! Well?! Go and spread the word and tell everyone to come and follow my brilliant wonderful fun fantastic top class quality individual unique stupendous totes amazeballs dope glorious and fucking awesome blog!

It’s all your fault I now feel bad that I don’t have 10,000+ followers! I am heartbroken, I have failed as a blogger and I’m quitting!

5). Do you blog daily?

Yes No

No. It’s very rare that I actually post daily and it is an achievement when I manage to post every day of the week! It’s not quite on the same level as splitting the atom or inventing the electric light bulb but nonetheless, it’s still an achievement!

6). Do you read other blogs daily?

Yes No

No. Sorry, just like I don’t blog daily I don’t read other blogs daily either. Unlike blogging where I post when I want I do try to read blogs daily but life, procrastination, gaming and reading all get in the way. If I don’t read then I really can’t be a book blogger and let’s be honest, there are bloggers out there who never read blogs or interact with others and yet are revered by you all as being the mutts nuts!

7). Do you comment on lots of blog posts?

Yes No

No! I’m more of a ‘like‘ the post lurker. I enjoy reading blog posts and reviews but unless it’s a book I’ve read or want to read or I can add anything relevant to the discussion I just enjoy reading the posts and lurk in the shadows.

8). Do you receive ARC’s?

Yes No

Yes! Yes! Yes!

I do, shoot me! I love me some ARC’s and if publishers trust me to read and offer up some half-way decent babbling or as it’s also known ‘a review‘ then it’s cool with me and it’s all good. Free books for the win!๐Ÿ‘Œ

9). Do you review ALL your ARC’s before their release date?

Yes No

No! Nope! Nadda!

Ooohhh did you hear that?! It was the sound of the world ending at my sacrilegious declaration!

Quite a few of my books don’t arrive until after the release date, can’t have reviewed them before if they don’t arrive until after! Boo ya! That’s a technicality for the win right there people!๐Ÿ‘Š

Let’s clarify, the question is ALL your ARC’s so for those who have 5,000+ old Netgalley ARC’s but seem to forget that when proclaiming that they read all their own ARC’s, it’s OK to admit it! No one is going to judge you!

For me, I read what I want, when I want regardless of the release date as reading is a hobby, I’m a mood reader and as such, it needs to be enjoyable. I’ve read lots of books before the release date and missed the release date on others, it’s not a cardinal sin and you won’t be banished from the book blogging community for doing it! If that was the case then quite frankly there wouldn’t even be a book blogging community as everyone would find themselves banished!๐Ÿ˜‚

10). Do you use Social Media for your blog?

Yes No

Yes, I have FB and Twitter though Instagram/Bookstagram is a bridge to far for me as I suck at taking pictures.

FYI, when I say that I suck at taking pictures I mean I’m crap at photography and not I suck in the sense that I’m a hooker who gets on his/her knees and licks the lollipop!

11). Do you participate in memes?

Yes No

Yes, I do post memes. We can’t all be blogging gods and goddesses who post original content every day of the week and while some people dislike memes I like them. I also think that they have a place on blogs and that a balance of different types posts is a good thing for your blog to have.

12). Do you write original content/discussion posts?

Yes No

Yes! Though quite rare I do on occasion write both original content and discussion posts. Woah, the mind was blown!

This post is original content well, fuck me! No! Not like that and you’d need to wine me and dine me first before I put out! After all, I’m not a book hooker!๐Ÿ˜‚

14). Do you have authors on your blog?

Yes No

Well!…….I haven’t had an author anywhere! Oh, right, that’s not what the question meant, silly me!

Yes! I have had lots of authors on my blog and I’m sure that they’d all say it was good for them too!๐Ÿ˜‚

Hhhmm…..I should have worded the question differently! Do you feature authors on your blog would have been far better! So, yes, I feature authors on my blog.

15). Are you a grammar Nazi?

Yes No

No! We all know what happened to the Nazis! The Third Reich failed and Hitler blew his brains out! We have no need for grammar Nazis in 2018!

I use Grammarly and I try, that’s as good as it gets.

Serious side note: I’ve nothing against grammar or those who have perfect grammar but let’s remember that lots of us don’t have a great grasp of it but do try our best.

16). Are you plain, vanilla, boring and bland?

Yes No

No! I’m sweet, salty, creamy, full of sprinkles and fucking rainbow coloured with bitter and crispy burnt edges to add a bit of tang!๐Ÿ˜‚

giphy (21)

17). Are you a follower of the power of positivity and are always positive?

Yes No

No! I’m a miserable fucker who is quite prepared to be negative.

giphy (24)

You have to take the good with the bad and the positive with the negative to give a fully rounded and all-encompassing view and that’s what I do.

Not everything that goes on is positive so it’s wrong to make out that it is and just because you haven’t been privy to the negativity in the community it doesn’t mean that it’s not there so don’t make out that it isn’t.

18). Do you think that everyone is equal within the book blogger community?

Yes No

Yes! Whether you read 1 book, 10 books, 100 books or 1,000 books each year we all read and thusly, we all blog for our love of reading. Likewise, whether you have been doing this for years or are only a few months into your blogging journey we started a book blog due to that very same love of reading which each of us has.

There has to be equality. Sure, people have more experience, might read more, have more followers, etc but at the end of the day, we are all book bloggers.

There’s plenty of top quality huge and established sites out there but what people need to realise and remember is this. That for every huge and established blog there are many small and/or new blogs out there that are just as good.

19. Are you and your blog awesome?

Yes No

Yes! Of course I am and of course, it is!๐Ÿ‘Œ Seriously! You didn’t think I’d answer no to this question, did you?! That would be crazy! We should all think we are awesome as blogging takes time and is hard. Praise yourselves people, if others won’t then do it yourself.๐Ÿ˜€

giphy (22)

20). Do you see yourself as being a pillar of the book blogger community and setting a good example for book bloggers?

Yes No

Hell no! I’m a delinquent reprobate blogger just look at this post! I mean, c’mon, if there was a list of bloggers who bring the community into disrepute then I’d be king of the fucking castle and the first name on the naughty list!

So, did you answer YES to most of the questions?! Congratulations you are NOT a bad book blogger! Likewise, did you answer with a mixture of YES and NO responses?! Congratulations you are NOT a bad book blogger either! Finally, did you answer NO to most questions?! Congratulations you are NOT a bad book blogger either!

Oh, that’s right! NO ONE is a BAD book blogger!

The reason for this post and little quiz?! Simply this, to show that there are NO. BAD. BOOK. BLOGGERS! Only that we are ALL DIFFERENT and that regardless of how we run our blog, how we write our posts and express our views it doesn’t make us bad just different!

So, if any of you think that there is a right way and a wrong way to blog then sorry but you’re not John Cena and I can see you!

giphy (23)

Yes, you! Sat up there on your high horse. Please slide on down and get off that saddle!

I’m sure that there’ll be those who think me posting this was wrong and offensive.

Well……..I’m truly sorry to disappoint you but you see, it can’t be wrong as it’s on MY blog and we should ALL run our blog how we want and not pander to others and there preconceived perceptions of how we should run a blog and what we should post.

  2. haha loved this!!! I got mostly the same answers as you, so I guess I’m not a bad book blogger either ๐Ÿ˜‰ Although I am most certainly a grammar Nazi (so tempted to take that to an inappropriate place, but people might get triggered ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

    1. Ha, I guess if I was as good at grammar as I am at ranting and sarcasm then I’d be a grammar nazi too. Alas, I’m not and would suck at it.๐Ÿ˜‚

That’s very true! Inappropriate place and nazis = bunched panties!๐Ÿ˜‚ That’s why I used a nice Simpsons gif for the nazi bit as no one can be offended by The Simpsons.๐Ÿ˜‚

  3. Entertaining as usual and very motivating I’d say to book bloggers out there who maybe question if they’re doing a good job or not. Happy New year Drew! Keep it up! ๐Ÿ˜

  5. A lovely post, Drew! And I agree – there is room for all opinions and all tastes, and that anyone takes the time to blog about books is enough!!

I appreciate your serious notes about people who care about correct grammar, btw (there is nothing Nazi about it!). I would never knock someone in public or criticise in private, either, unless asked for help, but it isn’t just a picky OCD things for egotistical weirdos. If we lose it, our language will become even more dumbed down than it already is, and good literature will disappear. Which would be a great shame!

  6. Thank you, Drew! I needed this. It’s easy to feel inadequate when it comes to book blogging. Now I’m going to remind myself that I’m an awesome fucking book blogger, because Drew says so! Ha ha!

    1. That’s very true and part of why I wrote the post as often you feel inadequate or like you are expected to do things a certain way to be classed as a real, proper or good blogger and it’s BS and I’m not one for supposed rules.

Ha, I think ‘because Drew says so’ needs to get trending!๐Ÿ˜‚

  7. Reblogged this on The road to Elle and commented:
Love this post from Drew at The Tattooed Book Geek. If YOU have ever felt inadequate as a blogger (book blogger or not!) or like there are rules you’re required to follow and milestones that you’re required to achieve in order to be a ‘good blogger’, you need to read this post. Drew reminds us all that we’re fucking awesome, and we should celebrate that!

  8. Absolutely brilliant post. I was spoiled for what the purpose of this quiz was cause I’ve heard you spread the word about no one being a bad blogger on Twitter at some point hahaha Got a mix of yea and nay, but man are you right on this. Nobody’s a bad blogger! Some people will probably take some time before understanding that though unfortunately!

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Thanks man and yeah, that’s very true. It takes time to understand that you aren’t a bad bloggers. Sadly, I think at times too that the community plays a part in the feeling of being a bad blogger too. Plenty of fantastic advice posts around but when you start seeing the ‘I do it this way, you should too otherwise you are wrong’ type of posts then you start questioning how you blog.

The purpose was, I don’t know really!๐Ÿ˜‚ To write a post, to write something different and to state in a fun way rather than an rant or essay that there aren’t bad bloggers.

  9. Brilliant post! Gave me a boost so thank you ๐Ÿ™‚ I started to answer no to quite a few, got worried I’d be considered bland boring…vanilla – yep! I mean my blogs a bit cheery, silly, kids book, peacocks…but yeah, we are all brilliant book bloggers and we are all equal ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€
