New Year Book Tag!

New YearBook Tag

I was tagged for this by Nicki over at the Secret Library Book Blog. As always if you don’t already follow her then hop on over and check out her blog. 😉

How many books are you planning to read in 2018?

Well! The low amount of 40 on my Goodreads challenge. Shameful, huh?! Alas, I am a slow reader and will hopefully read between 5060 books but I thought it best to keep the challenge low.

Name five books you didn’t get to read this year but want to make a priority in 2018?

  • Seventh Decimate by Stephen Donaldson.
  • Princess of Blood by Tom Lloyd.
  • Dark Immolation by Christopher Husberg.
  • Sea of Rust by C. Robert Cargill.
  • No is a Four-Letter Word by Chris Jericho.

Name a genre you want to read more of?

Thrillers! Yes, I want to read more thrillers so I guess that I will be crossing over to the dark side! 🙂

What’s a book you’ve had forever that you still need to read?

The City of Mirrors (Passage Trilogy 3) by Justin Cronin. I haven’t had it for ages as such, about 18 months but it feels like ages as I still haven’t gotten around to reading it! 😦

I absolutely loved the first book in the trilogy The Passage. It’s a classic and a stunning post-apocalyptic read. The sequel, The Twelve was OK but not as good and I have a slight trepidation over The City of Mirrors but I really want to read it and find out how it ends! This year people, I will read it this year!

One word that you’re hoping 2018 will be?

FuckingFantasticandFuckingGreatandFuckingBrilliantandFuckingHappyandFuckingAwesome!!!!!

It’s one word if I don’t use any spaces isn’t it?!?!?! Oh, OK, one word then! I’m tired of shit and feeling unhappy and while nothing major happened in 2017 I struggled with it.

I would like a good year for 2018 but writing good sounds so boring so my word of choice is: Awesome!

  1. 40 is actually a lot when you think about it. I’m already sweating my challenges. 🖤

I really like this tag and might do it! Thanks for sharing. The star wars gif just about made me dizzy, lol😂🤣

  2. Love the cover of Seventh Decimate, so checked it out. Thank you for bringing it to my attention! On the Goodreads TBR shelf!
I think a lot of people would agree with the choice of “Awesome” for 2018, at least I feel like after 2017 there should be an awesome year coming.
Also, I will definitely accept “not going to tag anyone specifically” and to this tag. Keep it up! Yours is one of the best book blogs out there!

    1. I hope you enjoy it.😀 It does unfortunately have less than favourable reviews but I’m eager to see if it’s any better than what people think and hopefully it will be.👌📚

Yep, an awesome year for all would be great, here’s hoping that it is.

Thank you, I definitely don’t agree with you about being one of the best book blogs but I appreciate it.😀📚

  3. Ah, I removed Seventh Decimate by Stephen Donaldson and shelved it after some reviews from a few bloggers who seem to share similar tastes/opinions. So I will be curious to see where you stand. I am sure I will pick it back up at some point 🙂 I love that you are enjoying the thrillers. I am such a mood reader haha. I genre hop a ton anymore. Happy reading!

    1. Yeah, I’ve probably read the same reviews! The only thing I would say is that it’s not sharing similar tastes and opinions with certain bloggers but ALL reviews have been negative for it!😂 One positive I remember seeing all the rest bad! Makes me keen to read it to see if it’s that bad!😂

  4. a-ha, I got my answer: there will be more thrillers! 😀 Nice one… there’s some seriously good thriller stuff out there! I hope you enjoy! 🙂

I kept my GR challenge low as well – 50… the current book I am reading has taken me freaking DAS to get to 18% 😀 this evening for example, I’ve spent hours again simply bloghopping, after work and cooking… and now it’s freaking bed time cos I have early morning meeting and it all just sucks donkey ass! 😀
Adulting is awful! But we all know that!

Here’s to a great 2018 with tons of awesome books and great reviews! 😉

    1. There is! I’ve seen lots of thrillers recently that are getting great reviews and sound awesome and whereas I wouldn’t have been bothered with them. Now I’m like ‘gimme, I want to read them’ and fantasy is a bit ‘meh, bored with it’.

Yeah, adulting blows big time but we are adults and unfortunately have to adult.😂

  5. Eeeek thrillers!! I have had The Passage sitting on my shelf for ages and haven’t gotten around to reading it. I really want to read it but then at the same time I heard it’s about vampires or something and that kind of turned me off it. Awesome post!!

      1. Ok, well I will give it a go this year. I am just so scared of sparkly vampires now that I am immediately scared off haha.

  8. Chris Jericho wrote a book? Why am I only finding out now? Thank you for putting it on my radar.
BTW I’m about to shamelessly do this tag in the last week of January.

  9. I’m surprised that you said 40 is a low number 😂 that’s about 3 books a month, which is quite a lot. I can’t read that fast without losing immersion or comprehension.

      1. I’m still going to add it to the list of books I need to read which is ever growing since i started blogging. Even if it’s poor it will still look good on my boom shelf.
