Welcome once again to Music Monday where I offer you all a song that I really like. If anyone wants to join in then please feel free to have a go! 🙂

Bad Wolves: Zombie.

Another head hangs lowly
Child is slowly taken
And the violence causes silence
Who are we mistaken?

But you see, it’s not me
It’s not my family
In your head, in your head, they are fighting
With their tanks, and their bombs
And their bombs, and their drones
In your head, in your head, they are crying

What’s in your head, in your head?
Zombie, zombie, zombie-ie-ie
What’s in your head, in your head?
Zombie, zombie, zombie-ie-ie, oh

Another mother’s breakin’
Heart is takin’ over
When the violence causes silence
We must be mistaken

It’s the same old theme
In two thousand eighteen
In your head, in your head, they’re still fightin’
With their tanks, and their bombs
And their guns, and their drones
In your head, in your head, they are dyin’

What’s in your head, in your head?
Zombie, zombie, zombie-ie-ie
What’s in your head, in your head?
Zombie, zombie, zombie-ie-ie, oh

It’s the same old theme
In two thousand eight-teen
In your head, in your head, they’re dyin’

What’s in your head, in your head?
Zombie, zombie, zombie-ie-ie
What’s in your head, in your head?
Zombie, zombie, zombie-ie-ie,

Oh oh oh oh
Ie-ie, oh

When she passed away on January 15th, 2018 Dolores O’Riordan who sang the original 1994 version of the song, Zombie with her band The Cranberries was set to record vocals on the new version of Zombie by the band Bad Wolves.

Sadly, she never got the chance and in honour of her memory the band have released their own version donating proceeds from the single to her three children.

I think it’s an awesome cover, I’ve been a fan of Tommy Vext (the vocalist) for a while now and this song showcases the emotion he can display when singing. The song itself is powerful with a fantastic guitar solo, the slight lyrical changes make the words relevant to today’s society, the video pays respect to Dolores, he band have managed to put their own twist on the song and while it is different to the original, for me, it acts as a perfect homage and simply put, it’s fucking amazing!

Taken from the single Zombie (2018).

  1. I had no clue she had died, how devastating, she was only a few years older than me. This is a fantastic version, I haven’t listened to much of Bad Wolves music I need to give them more of a chance.

    1. Yeah, the day before she was due to record vocals on this version.

There’s not much to listen too, this song and a couple of others, eagerly waiting for the debut album.👍👌 Vext was the vocalist for Westfield Massacre and their one album is pretty cool.
