There will be a mammoth blog tour to coincide with, help promote and celebrate the October release. I, however, have gotten in early (I am on the tour too with a review) and have this interview with Ronnie way before then!

Welcome, Ronnie and thank you for agreeing to appear on my blog.

Hi, Drew! Thanks so much for having me on your blog!

1 – Would you please tell us about Lies Between Us?

Absolutely! Lies Between Us is my debut psychological thriller due to be published by HQ Digital in e-book on the 1st of October and paperback on 13th December! Can’t believe it’s only seven weeks away!! Here’s the blurb:

Three people, leading very different lives, are about to be brought together – with devastating consequences . . .

John has a perfect life, until the day his daughter goes missing.

Maisie cares for her patients, but hides her own traumatic past.

Miller should be an innocent child, but is obsessed with something he can’t have.

They all have something in common, though none of them know it – and the truth won’t stay hidden for long . . .

2 – If you had to summarise Lies Between Us in one sentence, what would it be?

Lies Between Us is a tale of corrupted love, obsession and the fragility of the truth.

3 – What was your favourite part of writing Lies Between Us?

My favourite part was definitely writing my antagonist’s point of view. I wrote this story because I wanted to explore the way one man’s life can be so easily altered by another man’s obsession and his POV allowed me to explore just how far it could go.

4 – Where did the idea for the Lies Between Us come from?

The idea came to me when I saw two people deep in conversation and I wondered how well they really knew each other. As I started to play with the idea, the characters began to evolve. It’s always the ‘Bad Guys’ that pique my interest in the books I read, and I was really excited because with Lies Between Us I could examine the darker side of human nature. I’m so excited (and nervous/terrified!) for it to be out there in the world!

5 – When did you decide to become a writer?

I’ve always been a writer, even as a youngster. Perhaps not proper stories but I was always scribbling away about something. I’m a sucker for lovely notebooks. I have a box brimming with them… but enough is never enough when it comes to stationary! Who is with me?!

6 – Why do you write/What inspired you to become a writer?

Books! Books! Books! I love them! I read lots of different genres and this inspired me to (try) write a novel. I remember a friend lending me a copy of The Hobbit when I was young and becoming completely obsessed with it. I’d never read anything like it before so it was quite an exciting discovery!

7 – What do you find to be the most rewarding part of writing?

One of the best parts for me is the editorial process because you really see the book come together! It’s hard graft but it’s very rewarding!

8 – If you were asked to give one piece of advice to an aspiring writer what would it be?

I would say read as much as you can because the best lessons in storytelling are in the stories themselves!

9 – When writing are you a plotter or a pantser?

I’m categorically a planner! It takes me longer plotting than it does actually writing. I wrote Lies Between Us in just over five weeks but before that I was beavering away for ages on the plot! It shouldn’t take as long with book two because I’ve almost got everything done. I sent the synopsis off to my agent a few weeks ago which was very exciting!

10 – Have any authors influenced your work?

Absolutely! Some of my favourites are Stephen King, Kate Atkinson, Sarah Waters, Bill Bryson, Terry Pratchett, Daphne Du Maurier, Agatha Christie and so many more! They’ve all influenced my work.

11 – What are your top five favourite books?

I’ve got to narrow it down to five?!!! If I have to pick, I’ll say The Shining, A God In Ruins, Rebecca, The Little Stranger and The Murder on the Orient Express! These change daily though because I keep findng new favourites!

12 – If you were writing your autobiography what would you call it and why?

It’s got to be:

RONNIE TURNER, NOT RONNIE WOOD.

I get tons of emails/letters addressed to Mr (yup, Mr not Miss!) Ronnie Wood. I love The Rolling Stones though so I have to admit it’s quite fun!! (;

13 – Do you have a preferred writing snack?

I LOVE this question! I’m one of the biggest foodies! It’s usually a cup of tea with a packet of Rich Tea biscuits but sometimes I go wild and have Hobnobs! Haha!

Side note by Drew: Now, usually when someone mentions “nob” or some such word I am likely to make a comment about it, but! As I am a professional blogger, this is a serious post and an author interview I am not going to draw any attention to or mention the fact that Ronnie enjoys a nicely dunked nob when she goes “wild”.

14 – If you could change one thing about the state of the world, what would it be and why? – your answer can be serious, fun or both.

We’re big animal lovers in the Turner Cottage so I’ve got to say stop all animal cruelty.

Final question and you knew that it was coming!

15 – Do you have a picture of your dogs to share?

YASSSS!!! Here they are!! This is Bertie and Agatha (mummy and son)! They’re cheeky little devils! I love them to bits! Look at those faces! I’m always saying I’d have 101 rescue dogs if I could!

Well, that concludes the interview, many thanks to Ronnie Turner for appearing on my blog, it’s been a pleasure having you on The Tattooed Book Geek and I wish you all the best both with Lies Between Us. Do you have any last words for the readers of this interview?

Thank you so much for reading Drew’s lovely interview! I hope I didn’t chatter on too much! I’m now being glared at by the dogs so I think I’d better take them for walk! Thanks so much for having me Drew!
