Waiting On Wednesday was a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine. Each Wednesday you got to highlight a book that you were really looking forward to. Unfortunately, the original creator is no longer able to host the meme and it has now linked up with Can’t Wait Wednesday over at Wishful Endings.
This week I’ve chosen:
A Little Hatred (The Age of Madness #1) by Joe Abercrombie.
War. Politics. Revolution.
The Age of Madness has arrived . . .The chimneys of industry rise over Adua and the world seethes with new opportunities. But old scores run deep as ever.
On the blood-soaked borders of Angland, Leo dan Brock struggles to win fame on the battlefield, and defeat the marauding armies of Stour Nightfall. He hopes for help from the crown. But King Jezal’s son, the feckless Prince Orso, is a man who specialises in disappointments.
Savine dan Glokta – socialite, investor, and daughter of the most feared man in the Union – plans to claw her way to the top of the slag-heap of society by any means necessary. But the slums boil over with a rage that all the money in the world cannot control.
The age of the machine dawns, but the age of magic refuses to die. With the help of the mad hillwoman Isern-i-Phail, Rikke struggles to control the blessing, or the curse, of the Long Eye. Glimpsing the future is one thing, but with the guiding hand of the First of the Magi still pulling the strings, changing it will be quite another . . .
I’m a huge fan of Abercrombie’s work and I cannot wait for this book!
A Little hatred (The Age of Madness #1) is published by Gollancz and released on September, 19th 2019.

Sounds like a great choice, I’ve never read anything by Joe but let me know how it goes and I might as it to a ‘to buy’ list.
I hope you enjoy it whenever you get around to it 😊

He is a great author. Very grimdark definitely not YA so I’m not sure how you’d deal with his work.👍

😂 probably how I dealt with the other books that aren’t YA….very slowly🙈

Lol, I think he’d be even slower than usual for you.

I think that reading the plot I got the huge spoiler ever, because I just read The Heroes and the first two books in the First Law trilogy, but who cares! I am taking my sweet time with Abvercrombie’s book because I want to savour those masterpieces but now… argh! I have to read them all because I need to know!!!!!!!

I love this cover. I really need to start reading Abercrombie. Do you know if this book intersects with his First Law series?

It’s set in the future, same world as the First Law series and I think that younger generations of the characters from the original trilogy appear.

Sounds good- thanks! Maybe I’ll jump into First Law next month.

Awesome, First Law is brilliant. One of my favourite trilogies, Abercrombie has such a dry and sarcastic way with words and Nine Fingers and Glokta are exceptional characters. Stairs too, stairs and one of the characters battles with them is hilarious.😂🤣

2 days before my birthday … may have to call it a birthday treat.
I wonder if Glokta the Younger has quite such hellish battles with stairs?
I’m so tempted to re-read the original series. Need more of the original Glokta … and Logan’s fruits, obviously.

Re-reading the original trilogy would be awesome, sadly, finding the time with all of the other awesome books makes it tough!
Ha, the stairs and Glokta were awesome, it’d be cool if there was something similar!

Yea, I keep getting offered books on top of all the books I actually want to read. Such a curse!

It is! A welcome curse at times unless you are getting offered stuff in genres that you don’t read!

It must be hard getting offered crime and fantasy when all you want is erotic chick-lit and YA romance.

Here is another reason to dust off the First Law trilogy that has been waiting patiently in my reading queue for *years* and prepare myself for this new work from Joe Abercrombie!! 🙂
