Are You A Book Snob Tag.

I saw the Are You A Book Snob Tag on a few blogs that I follow and decided to give it a go. I can’t credit the creator as I don’t know who originally created the tag and the blogs that I saw the tag on didn’t know or say. However, if I had to guess then I’d say that the tag was created by either Taghulu the book tag sibling of Cthulu or Tagula the book tag vampire.

FORMAT SNOB: You can only choose one format in which to read books for the rest of your life. Which one do you choose: physical books, eBooks, or audiobooks?

Physical books. Sorry tree huggers, but Ents aren’t real and trees don’t have feelings.

I don’t do audiobooks, I can’t get on with them and while I don’t mind reading the occasional eBook I much prefer physical books.

ADAPTATION SNOB: Do you always read the book before watching the film/TV show?

No, most of the books that I read haven’t been adapted for film or television, but thinking about it I’ve probably watched more films/TV shows and then read the book than the other way round.

SHIP SNOB: Would you date or marry a non-reader?

Yes, I would date or marry a non-reader. I don’t have many any women wanting to date me as it is and I’m not going to narrow down the field even more by refusing to date or marry a non-reader.

Honestly, it’s not important to me, what’s important is that whoever I date or marry has a pulse and that should be important to you too.😂😜

Sorry, no hate, it’s 2020. If cold, clammy, lifeless and stiff makes you happy then it’s #lifechoices and you go for it.

GENRE SNOB: You have to ditch one genre – never to be read again for the rest of your life. Which one do you ditch?

Romance. This is where I doth my shady politician hat and use what is commonly known as a loophole. You see, the question doesn’t specify whether you are required to choose a genre that you actually do ‘read or not’ and only says ‘never to be read again’. I don’t read romance and that is my choice.😜

UBER GENRE SNOB: You can only choose to read from one genre for the rest of your life. Which genre do you choose?

Monster porn, you can’t beat it. Well, you can and from what I’ve heard the monsters like it when you do. Is that a tripod that you are carrying? No, it’s just an aroused Mr Tentacles. 😂😜

I love both fantasy and thrillers and I’m not choosing, I’m staying with the dark side as they have cookies.

I don’t know, it’s a hard question. If I was currently in a fantasy slump then I’d pick thrillers, but I’m not and nothing beats losing yourself in a fantasy world for escapism. So, yeah, fantasy, ask me another week and my answer might well be thrillers.

COMMUNITY SNOB: Which genre do you think receives the most snobbery from the bookish community?

I would say YA, but I was once called out and received grief over referring to YA as a genre because it is an age group and, ya know, I really really wouldn’t want to intentionally offend anyone.😂

I’d go with SFF/fantasy as I often see the genre being maligned and classed as ‘less than’ when compared to other genres by the literary elite, buffoons who think they know everything when, in reality, they are just twats.

SNOBBERY RECIPIENT: Have you ever been snubbed for something that you have been reading or for reading in general?

My domain is lurking in the shadows, at one with the dark and hiding out of sight from the world where I make sarcastic comments about everyone.😂

I’m anti-social, unpopular and not a people person and I’m snubbed for most things, but being snubbed involves people and well, people suck.

I’ve received the whole ‘reading is a waste of time‘ and ‘reading is boring‘ BS rhetoric that those who don’t like reading spew forth. Honestly, the fact that they don’t like reading should tell you that there’s obviously something wrong with them and with that being said who cares what they think.😂

In conclusion, I don’t think that I’m a snob, a bit of a knob granted, but not a snob.

      1. I find it’s the writing style and predictable plot that just don’t do anything for me 😀 I find it’s my favourite reads that make me feel better, usually children’s classics or favourite science fiction.

      2. Really! Sometimes we need a little pick me up sometimes, which in my opinion would be that genre.

  1. If you want an author that blends fantasy and thriller, try some of Daniel Polansky’s stuff. That’s a nice loophole for choosing between thriller and fantasy.

Buuuuut, seeing as how you said monster porn, I fully expect a review of Taken by the T-Rex … or ganbanged by the orcs or something 😂

  2. Someone tagged me on this and I was also disturbed that I didn’t know who originated this, so I went hunting. I found out that “Lucy Mayyy Reads” first saw this after seeing a YouTube video from “Tia and all the Books,” and Lucy was the first one who made it into a tag.
