1-What are you currently reading?

wov

Wake of Vultures (The Shadow Book 1) by Lila Bowen.

So far, so good, I am really enjoying this. It’s a fantasy and western hybrid, what’s not to like, monsters in the Old West, awesome!

Book Blurb:

Nettie Lonesome lives in a land of hard people and hard ground dusted with sand. She’s a half-breed who dresses like a boy, raised by folks who don’t call her a slave but use her like one. She knows of nothing else. That is, until the day a stranger attacks her. When nothing, not even a sickle to the eye can stop him, Nettie stabs him through the heart with a chunk of wood and he turns to black sand.

And just like that, Nettie can see.

But her newfound sight is a blessing and a curse. Even if she doesn’t understand what’s under her own skin, she can sense what everyone else is hiding – at least physically. The world is full of evil, and now she knows the source of all the sand in the desert. Haunted by the spirits, Nettie has no choice but to set out on a quest that might lead her to find her true kin . . . if the monsters along the way don’t kill her first.

2-What did you recently finish reading?

wallofstorms

The Wall of Storms by Ken Liu.

At 850 pages this is one big bad boy hefty tome but it’s a rewarding read for fantasy fans. (I have yet to write my review).

Book Blurb:

Dara is united under the Emperor Ragin, once known as Kuni Garu, the bandit king. There has been peace for six years, but the Dandelion Throne rests on bloody foundations – Kuni’s betrayal of his friend, Mata Zyndu, the Hegemon. The Hegemon’s rule was brutal and unbending – but he died well, creating a legend that haunts the new emperor, no matter what good he strives to do.

Where war once forged unbreakable bonds between Kuni’s inner circle, peace now gnaws at their loyalties. Where ancient wisdoms once held sway, a brilliant scholar promises a philosophical revolution. And from the far north, over the horizon, comes a terrible new threat … The scent of blood is in the water.

killhjoke

Batman The Killing Joke.

Pure dark and disturbing awesomeness! This graphic novel – it’s not a comic OK?? 🙂 This is a must read for Batman fans and you can find my review !!HERE!!

Book Blurb:

Alan Moore cemented his reputation for unparalleled storytelling with wildly acclaimed books such as WATCHMEN and V FOR VENDETTA. Here he takes on some of DC’s most classic characters, offering his unforgettable version of the disturbing relationship between the Dark Knight and his greatest foe, the Joker.

In this groundbreaking work, Moore creates a twisted tale of insanity and human perseverance. Looking to prove that any man can be pushed past his breaking point to madness, the Joker attempts to drive Commissioner Gordon insane.

Refusing to give up, Gordon struggles to maintain his sanity with the help of Batman in a desperate effort to best the madman.

3-What do you think your’ll read next?

raven

Conspiracy of Ravens The Shadow Book 2) by Lila Bowen.

Well, as I am currently about half way through the first book and really enjoying it, I am going to delve straight into the sequel after finishing. 🙂

Book Blurb:

Nettie Lonesome jumped off a cliff, not knowing what she’d become. She’s still not sure, but the destiny of the Shadow is calling her to help someone she’d just as soon watch die. Her new sidekick, an annoying shifter named Earl, is hellbent on finding the Rangers. He’s just escaped a railroad camp where monsters are held captive, their very bones used to fuel the tracks scarring Nettie’s wild, beloved Durango. And he wants revenge. Nettie, now facing the truth of her own identity and going by Rhett, must decide whether to side with her friends and the badge on her chest or take off alone on the dangerous mission pulling her inexplicably toward the fight of her life.

When it comes to monsters and men, the world isn’t black and white. What good are two wings and a gun when your enemy can command a conspiracy of ravens?

  1. I really like the cover for Conspiracy of Ravens. I’m not sure if I’d read that or not. I’ll wait for your review. Joker I’m definitely buying after this stupid hurricane goes away. I’m afraid to order it during a storm. That skull book… Way too long. 😂 Get cracking on that review, mister. I want to know why you liked it so much. 🙂

      1. Haha! 🙈 I don’t think you could write a 150 word review. It would kill you to do that to a book you loved. I couldn’t even imagine doing that to an author. Ugh, don’t get me started on those peeps who write bad reviews. 😂 Yeah, you don’t want that to interfere with your gaming. 🙂

  3. I particularly like the sound of Conspiracy of Ravens 🙂 Glad to hear you’re really enjoying it and can carry on straight into the sequel (I find I enjoy series more when I can read the installments back to back).

Thanks for visiting my WWW earlier! 🙂

    1. I generally agree with you about reading installments back to back but at times I do like a break in between to, I think it’s being a fantasy fan and the books being so long in length, if you’ve just read 850 pages and then start the next book and it’s the same length it’s alot of time with the characters and sometimes a break is good. But both these books are short, 350 pages each so I’m happy to read one after the other. I agree though that Conspiracy of Ravens sounds good, the first one is so far so fingers crossed it stays that way for both the rest of the book and Conspiracy of Ravens to. 😀

  4. I’m currently reading A Storm of Swords, Carry On, and Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. I recently finished The Young Elites. I’m planning on reading the last half of A Series of Unfortunate Events. I started the series earlier this year and read up to book 5 I think, and I still have 11 more books to read in order to meet my goal of 40 books for my 2016 goodreads challenge.
