The Friday Face-Off is a meme originally created by Books by Proxy with a list of the upcoming themes over at Lynn’s Books. The idea is to compare the different covers of a book with each week being a certain theme.
This weeks theme is: “My what big teeth you have” – a cover featuring a cloaked figure.
My choice is:
The Left Hand of God (Left Hand of God Trilogy Book 1) by Paul Hoffman.
Lots of the covers this week actually fit the theme (shocker, right) but for me this is the winning cover.
I like the light marble type background, the red font really pops, the background also makes the hooded figure standout and I think that the designs around the outer edge of the cover look really smart. All together making for a fantastic cover.
Thoughts?? Agree?? Disagree??

Love this cover (much more than I did the book if I’m honest!)

It is a fantastic cover. I didn’t mind the book unfortunately as it meant I read the other two in the trilogy. I was young, foolish and didn’t know any better.😂

We’ve all been there! It was one of those books I didn’t mind until I l gave it to a friend and she pointed out a whole bunch of flaws that I then couldn’t unsee!

Great choice closely followed by the purple cover.

I like the first cover. The purple one that looks like a painting effect.

I agree with you, Drew!! Definitely my favorite cover too!

I like your choice but I’m biased when it comes to purple and have to say I like the purple cover the most.

Definitely the right pick there.
P.S. I know I’ve got a couple more of your older posts to check out, but what on Earth happened here? Flowery, Fluffy and Bright? Hahahah

I like the first cover best. Its got the same guy as the one you picked but is more mysterious looking. The one you picked is my second favorite.

Your choice is definitely the best, though if there was similar detailing in the font and border decoration on the first cover as there is in the second, it probably would be my favourite:). A great book, once again, Drew:).

Yeah, that was my thought too and DJ’s (my life, my books, my escape) and if it had it would have won but without them it just didn’t look quite so good as the winning one and was slightly lacking overall.

Yes – a shame someone didn’t spend just a little longer on it…

But the purple one is so badass looking! Ugh! If only had some border like the second one…! Dang! But it doesn’t, so I have the same pick as you 🙂

Yeah, it is badass but it was just a bit plain. If it had a border then it would have won but it just looked a bit plain without one.

I remember we were buried under books that featured a hooded figure on the cover a couple of years ago! They are still around but now there’s more variety^^ I do like the Italian(?) cover of this book!
AJ STYLES SHOULD BE ON THE COVER OF EVERY BOOK! 😀

Ha, that’s very true, it was hooded figures everywhere! A bit like last year where so many books had birds on the covers.😂📚

Those first two covers are gorgeous – very atmospheric 😀 I’m hard pressed to choose between the two!

Agreed! I like the contrast of the hooded figure against the lighter background. The boarder & title fonts are on point as well. I think my second favorite would be the one where the hooded figure is in front of the cathedral style door with the light shining in 🙂

Agree with your choice for sure. Keep meaning to try this meme. Gotta get to it.

Some weeks it’s really easy to find a book to match the theme, others a nightmare. Hence why I only do it at times.📚😀

Haha. I get that for sure.

Your choice definitely works, but I love that first one. It feels so ominous!
