The Friday Face-Off is a new meme created by Books by Proxy, where the idea is to compare the UK and US covers of a book with each week being a certain theme, this week’s theme is: There was once a princess, who lived in the top of the highest tower – a cover with a castle.
For the theme this week I have chosen: The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms (Inheritance Book 1) by N. K. Jemisin.

It’s quite similar to another couple of the covers for the book but overall I just prefer this offering as I like the image depicting the castle.

I own a kindle edition of Cover A so that’s my choice but G is pretty good as well, Cover H also looks good , but in a way all 3 are similars , DO NOT like Cover B though

What a fabulous choice for this week, Drew:). Other than cover B – I think they are all beautiful and give a sense of the otherness and scale of the story, but A is the cover I have and still think holds up very well. I love the fact that the figure at the back is far more subtly defined than some of the others, emitting a real sense of godly menace…

Lots of similarities betweens those covers (except for B, what the hell were they thinking?) but I love the intensity of Cover A

I think I like cover A best. I’m not sure. I don’t really like the faces blended into the background of some of the covers.

I think my favorite is Cover A, but I really like the one you picked out as well. It’s so hard to choose between similar covers haha. But cover B… well, to join the general opinion, I don’t like it either ahah 🙂

I actually really like cover E after finishing the book. I like not having the protagonist on the cover… #spoilers?

I’m not sure if it’s the protagonist or not but I guess it is. I struggled with the theme this week and ended up with a book that I haven’t read.😂

This cover doesn’t really reveal anything about the book itself. But I did enjoy this book quite a bit! I look forward to hearing what you think when you eventually get to it. 🙂
