The Friday Face-Off is a new meme created by Books by Proxy, where the idea is to compare the UK and US covers of a book with each week  being a certain theme, this week’s theme is: There was once a princess, who lived in the top of the highest tower – a cover with a castle.

For the theme this week I have chosen: The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms (Inheritance Book 1) by N. K. Jemisin.

It’s quite similar to another couple of the covers for the book but overall I just prefer this offering as I like the image depicting the castle.

Thoughts?? Agree?? Disagree??

  1. I own a kindle edition of Cover A so that’s my choice but G is pretty good as well, Cover H also looks good , but in a way all 3 are similars , DO NOT like Cover B though

  2. What a fabulous choice for this week, Drew:). Other than cover B – I think they are all beautiful and give a sense of the otherness and scale of the story, but A is the cover I have and still think holds up very well. I love the fact that the figure at the back is far more subtly defined than some of the others, emitting a real sense of godly menace…

      1. Oh, you’re in for a real treat, Jackie:)). I happen to think the second book is even better than the first. Have you read her award-winning The Fifth Season?
