The Friday Face-Off is a new meme created by Books by Proxy, where the idea is to compare the UK and US covers of a book with each week being a certain theme, this week’s theme is: “angels, the first noel” – a cover featuring angels.
For the theme this week I have chosen and yes, I am fully aware before anyone points it out that it is another Y-A book – shudders and believe me it gets worse at the end: Angelfall (Penryn and the End of Days book 1) by Susan Ee.
Cover A:
Cover B:
Cover C:
Cover D:
Cover E:
Cover F:
Cover G:
Cover H:
Cover I:
Cover J, where J stands not just for the letter in the alphabet representing the cover choice but also J for: Jesus Holy Christ! What cover have I put on my blog! This vile and heinous evil cover is one for all the ladies out there who love themselves some glistening torso and rock hard abs. And, yes, I specifically left it until the last cover so you can swoon over Mr Abs safe in the knowledge that you’ve already seen all the other cover choices:
Cover E:
Cover C is a close second but I really like the overall blue colour scheme and the angels wings depicted, quite simple but a great looking cover.
Thoughts?? Agree?? Disagree??
And, just because it’ll never be seen on my blog again, here’s the cover with Mr winged abs for you all one final time. I aim to please on my blog and I thought you might all like a last look at Studly here to leave you with thoughts of him tickling you with his wings in some wild bodice ripping delight! 🙂
Merry Christmas to you all!!!!
Follow me on:
Hmmm. I think I prefer C. Too many similar colours on E. I’d prefer the text to be white so it stands out a bit more. Close second though 😉

I agree. Cover C is SO pretty 😍 but E is a close second.

I do like cover E. However, cover C is just 😍 I honestly want the book just for that cover.

You mean you’re not picking the cover with Mr Abs on, poor Studley, no one has chosen him yet!
LikeLiked by 1 person
Hey, you didn’t pick him either! Plus cover C looks sparkly and you know me with a good sparkly 😍
LikeLiked by 1 person
Well, yeah, obviously I didn’t pick him, sigh, however I did include him for all the ladies out there instead of just quietly ignoring the abs cover! 🙂

Fair enough. Still…. sparkly 🙂

My favorites are probably E and C. I own cover C so I’m kind of biased on that but I’m just glad I wasn’t stuck with Mr Abs over there lol my parents would be like “what are you reading???”

lol, poor Studley, no one has chosen him yet, left on the shelf at Christmas! 🙂

ABS!!!! Jill is gonna love it :p I’ll go with cover C!

I think I will actually go with “C” for this. Oh and since it is the holidays.. I am choking down all of my YA comments to play nice 😉

You can keep Mr Abs – my favourite is Cover H – love the look of the wings with Himself standing on a plinth. I’ve read this book, so it seems best fitted to the content:)

hmm another YA title, frankly i don’t like any covers all that much . But sure Cover C looks the better one .
A very Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones 🙂

Thanks Rash, merry Christmas to you to.😀 Ha, yeah, I know, believe me I know, another Y-A book, I feel the shame, it’s bad when I have to resort to the dreaded Y-A genre!😂😢

Hahahaha… Drew, you aim to lease the ladies… abs and santa hats.. a new fetish will be born from this post! 😀
Anyway, I agree with the winning civer and had the same thoughts re cover C…. 😉

Ha, I think I failed though, no one has chosen the cover with Studley on as their favourite, poor Mr abs, obviously he needs some more oil to glisten those badboys up.😂

hahahaha! yeah, more babyoil!!!! 😂

This so does not sound like a book I would enjoy so I like cover A which seems like it could be about something else. Plus it has a girl holding a sword. I have a thing for girls with weapons. The Santa hat on Mr. Bas cracked me up. I needed that.

Another YA?! I am shocked haha. I like cover C the best, but only because I’m used to it. But I like your choice, too! Cover F looks like it should be with the Hunger Games and cover D is actually just creepy. Thanks for the abs! XD

Yeah, another Y-A unfortunately, I know, the shame.😂

I’ve read this book and loved it (though the series went downhill towards the end) and I am with you on its YAness…which is why cover J completely boggles my mind. If they’re trying to attract the adult PNR crowd, they’re going to end up with a lot of disappointed readers on their hands.
Cover A is nice too, but that sword grip though. *cringe*

I hadn’t even noticed the sword grip until you mentioned it but damn!😂

Lol! 😂 I like cover J, but cover C is still my favorite! Merry Christmas, Drew! 🎄🎁

I think C is my favorite. I love the color scheme, and it’s a bit less dark than the one you chose. But similar. I feel like F is telling me this is a spy books, or military?
Mr. Abs should be your new blog mascot. I know he really fits your aesthetic. Just change his outfit for each holiday! 😂😂😂

Wouldn’t have a clue if it’s spy or military, haven’t read it, Y-A isn’t a genre for me.😂 Eurgh, Yuck, no more Mr Abs, hell no!

The masses have spoken, Drew! Mr. Abs is here to stay. 😝

Cover C for me. If I still worked with you, I would never let you hear the end of cover J … In actual fact, I think I may just bring it up every time I see you 😉

I love this post! I personally like cover C the best but G is a close second. Mr. Winged Studly is appreciated by us romance book lovers. I look at so many books with half dressed men that it’s a nice change to have someone laugh about one. Could you do this with a romance book one week? I’m sure that post would split my sides from laughter! -Becca

I’m not sure how much longer the meme is carrying on, there’s a theme for this upcoming Friday and then no more at the moment but if it does continue I’ll try my best to find a romance book one week.😀 Ha, half dressed men covers are definitely not for me but yes, I had a laugh with it/him.😂

I love Cover C. The traditional cover is so pretty. (Are you thinking of diving into the world of YA? Becaus I have some great recs for you…and I’ll make sure there’s no half-dressed men on the cover, bc I personally think it’s gross too). I love that you put a Santa hat on him! Maybe next time around the holidays pick an erotica title and “strategically” place that Santa hat somewhere else! I’d die! 😂🤣😂🤣😂🎅
Another good one, and my fave post of the week!

Yeah, I dislike abs on covers, also it seems abit inappropriate for them to be on the cover of a Y-A book, or maybe it’s just me?!🤔 Eurgh, strategically placed Santa hat, hhhmm!😂 Cool, your favourite post of the week, thank you.👍

I love seeing the diff covers, so you ARE my fave post, and I love the concept…want to try it someday but I suck at anything weekly.
I think half-naked ANYTHING on YA covers is gross. ::shivers::

Ha, I’m not sure what is happening with the face-off, got to find out with the original blogger who hasn’t been around for months and months as me and two others have been coming up with the themes since June and need to find out, if they are coming back to blogging, if not, if we keep it going, if we end it or carry on and change the name. No post next week though while it gets sorted.

Well, make it your own. I’d like to do it too, so maybe it can be a thing still. I think it’s my fave posts of ALL the posts out there. I love to see the covers as I am, honestly, a big coverwhore. 😳
