Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine. Each Wednesday you get to highlight a book that your really looking forward to. This week I’ve chosen:
Skitter by Ezekiel Boone.
Book Blurb:
The first wave of deadly spiders has been defeated. But worse is to come…
Tens of millions of people around the world are dead. Half of China is a nuclear wasteland. Mysterious flesh-eating spiders are marching through Los Angeles, Oslo, Delhi, Rio de Janeiro, and countless other cities. According to scientist Melanie Gruyer, however, the spider situation seems to be looking up.
Yet in Japan, a giant, truck-sized, glowing egg sack is discovered, even as survivors in Los Angeles panic and break the quarantine zone. Out in the desert, survivalists Gordo and Shotgun are trying to invent a weapon to defeat the spiders. But even if they succeed it may be too late, because President Stephanie Pilgrim has been forced to enact the plan of last resort: The Spanish Protocol.
Every country must fight for itself. And the spiders are on the move…
The expected publication date is: April 27th 2017 in the UK and May 2nd 2017 in the US.
I really enjoyed the first book, The Hatching when I read it earlier this year, just good dumb fun and very enjoyable.

Hmm, I’m with you as far as dumb, but ‘good’ and ‘fun’ are two words I would not use to describe the first book. LOL

The more I read about these books the more I think my husband will laugh his way through them (he’s like that) I think I need to pick up the first one and get his take on it.

I loved the first book, I’m not normally a fan of dumb books, being a fantasy fan I’m used to complex worlds and plots, etc but damn The Hatching was awesome, read it in a couple of days.😀🕷️🕸️

Ugh…… just, ugh!
Itching all over again, darned spiders… but the plot does sound interesting for the second book… maybe if I read this series I will overcome my fear of speedys? 🙂

Oh, I’d forgotten that the Queen does not like spiders, the first is definitely a fun read, you should perhaps give it a go.😀🕷️🕸️

The first was definitely a fun read, hoping that continues with this book as I’ve heard both good and bad things about it with some loving it and some hating it.
Lol, well….if he loves spiders then I agree, he needs to see this post, everyone who ‘loves’ spiders really loves that crawling Spider gif!😂🕷️🕸️😂

I just hope no spiders were injured in the writing OR reading of this book. They are sooo cute and misunderstood…

Very true, it was just good fun, and made a nice change from the more complex fantasy, really enjoyed it.😀

Just read Sam’s review, had to go and read it after she mentioned it, saw your comment, lol book series are the bane of all fantasy fans, thanks in particular to two authors, hello Rothfuss and Ggggrrrr Martin!😂
I loved the first, just pure dumb fun and so enjoyable.😀

Lol, it’s a trilogy so there’ll be another book too!😂🕷️🕸️
Not sure it’s scary, if you don’t like spiders then yeah, I’ll admit in places that it could be, but it’s not a serious book, or I didn’t think it was anyway, just good ol’ dumb fun.😀🕷️🕸️

Bro. You can’t just put a moving spider gif like that. I almost broke my laptop.
P.S. I actually have the first book (won it through a Goodreads giveaway… I do love spiders in fiction, but man… NEVER put one near me. I’ll turn into the hulk or a fear-stricken cat.

It’s all the responses like that that make the usage of that Spider gif worthwhile!😂
The first book is fun, just really entertaining.😀
