That’s a Wrap – weekly round-up post for December 9th.

Add heading

I don’t often post daily on my blog, it’s very rare that I manage a post each day of the week. Massive props to those that do, lots even manage more than one post daily! Alas, my procrastination levels often get in the way and my own posting is rather sporadic. 🙂

As I managed the feat of posting daily over the last week I thought I’d do a wrap-up post in-case any of you crazy cats missed any of my awesome posts from during the week! 🙂

Saturday.

8 yearsago today

Saturday was a personal post from me looking back at the anniversary of my father’s death 8 years ago which ended up being a diatribe of sorts about cancer and included me writing about both my grandfather and my dog too who also both sadly succumbed to cancer.

A snippet of the post is:

I guess everyone says that their pet is the best be it a dog, cat, rabbit, hamster, gerbil, bird or snake, it’s the pet owners prerogative. So you’ll excuse me my little indulgence as I say that Sully was the best dog ever.

Pets aren’t just ‘animals‘ they transcend that, they are part of the family, friends and they sure as hell aren’t like humans, they give you their love unconditionally and don’t expect anything in return whereas humans will often take, take and take and never give anything back. Pets don’t, they are always there for you when you need them and they give you so much and in return, you look after and care for them.

Sunday.

monster ed

After the rather sombre and personal post on Saturday I decided to take the fun and light-hearted approach on Sunday with another fun book covers post this time featuring monster erotica covers.

To see the rest of the covers you can find the post link below:

Monday.

MusicMonday

Monday I had my Music Monday meme on the blog this week featuring The Bleeding by Five Finger Death Punch. If any of you want to join in with the meme then please feel free and remember to link to one of my posts so I can check out the tunes you like. 🙂

Tuesday.

On Tuesday I posted my review for the fantastic Year One by Nora Roberts.

A snippet of my review:

I liked Roberts writing style. I found Year One to be bleak and dark without ever being overly so and there is lightness to go along with the darkness too, friendships, people banding together and some romance (shudders, though seriously, I didn’t mind the romance in year One, there isn’t much and it’s understated but adds to both the characters and the story). It’s occasionally whimsical, very easy to read and accessible (some post-apocalyptic books are often quite dense and require concentration. Year One wasn’t, it’s pick up and read material) with great pacing as the pages fly by in a blur. From the beginning, you are instantly pulled into the characters lives and the story that she is telling.

Wednesday.

wow

On Wednesday I posted twice, go me! 🙂

Firstly, I posted a Waiting on Wednesday meme for A Sacred Storm (The Viking Chronicles #2) by Theodore Brun.

You can find out more about the book in the post link below:

My second post of the day was a poem entitled Hate Myself (because when I’m not rocking the swearing and sarcasm I can do deep and meaningful too) which you can find a link to below:

Thursday.

malrev

On Thursday I posted my review for Malice of Crows by Lila Bowen.

A snippet of my review is:

Malice of Crows is a diverse read that displays its diversity proudly like Rhett wearing his Ranger badge and gives you a book that is full of action, emotion and captivating characters. If you’ve already read Wake of Vultures and Conspiracy of Ravens then it goes without saying that you need to read Malice of Crows and if you are yet to join up with Rhett’s posse then saddle on up and ride out for a wild time.

Malice of Crows is a high calibre fantasy western hybrid that’s a damn good roller-coaster of an adventure.

Friday.

face off

On Friday I posted the Friday-Face-Off meme where you compare covers on a certain theme. This week’s theme was night and my choice of book was Blood upon the Sand (The Song of the Shattered Sands #2) by Bradley P. Beaulieu.

The post link is below:

A pretty cool week on the blog. A personal post, a fun and very inappropriate post with the monster covers, a trio of memes (one I created), a emotional poem and a couple of sweet book reviews.

How has your blogging week been??

A girl missing
A woman, searching
A killer, planning…

A thrilling new FBI series for fans of Tess Gerritsen and Karin Slaughter.

FBI Agent Elsa Myers finds missing people.
She knows how it feels to be lost…

Though her father lies dying in a hospital north of New York City, Elsa cannot refuse a call for help. A teenage girl has gone missing from Forest Hills, Queens, and during the critical first hours of the case, a series of false leads hides the fact that she did not go willingly.

With each passing hour, as the hunt for Ruby deepens into a search for a man who may have been killing for years, the case starts to get underneath Elsa’s skin. Everything she has buried – her fraught relationship with her sister and niece, her self-destructive past, her mother’s death – threatens to resurface, with devastating consequences.

In order to save the missing girl, she may have to lose herself…and return to the darkness she’s been hiding from for years.

A Map of the Dark by Karen Ellis. A different genre for me and one I don’t often frequent but I’m really enjoying the book. Though I admit that I haven’t read as much as I should have as I’ve been playing Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus on the PS4 rather a lot! I mean, it’s killing Nazi’s, it’s awesome and I got to ride on the back of a large fire-breathing mechanical dog in it! And, one of the mission objectives was ‘kill them all‘ what an invitation to lay waste to some despicable Nazi swines! 🙂

  1. You’ve had a busy week! and I am jealous… I long for the day when work stops being so utterly sucky and mentally draining to read more and blog more and more in a way of other than just reviews! It’s all I can manage at the moment though… Well done on the busy week- some great content! 🙂

    1. Not sure it’s great but it’s content and yeah, busy, it’s always a shock when I manage to post daily.😂

Totally get that about draining. I work in a supermarket, mega busy as it’s Christmas time, 4am shifts the week before Christmas too so I can’t see many posts from me over the coming couple of weeks. I’ll probably be sat in the corner shaking after having to listen to the repeated Christmas songs at work.😂

      1. 4am? holy crap.. I have huge issues getting to the office by freaking 9am… I can’t even imagine… and xmas music? oh, I’d lose my shit! i was in the shop yesterday, for 10 minutes, and it was enough to make me want to crawl up the walls… ugh! I do feel sorry for you… in a way xmas can’t come fast enough just to get it over and done with! 😀

    1. I’m always amazed when I manage to post daily, it doesn’t happen often at all. I can see I’ll probably not be posting much the next couple of weeks especially the 4am starts week, unless I get some posts drafted up before then.🤔 I’m always in awe of people who post daily, weekly, monthly with no gaps, often more than one post a day, all the time!😂

      1. I do not miss those 4am starts! Although my days are now 9-10 hour ones (my own choice). I just never have enough time to log on to write something. Maybe my goal will be to be more active.

  2. Been extra busy at work too and its cutting into reading/writing time. At this time of year I’d much rather just read and forget about reviewing, but then I’d feel bad about it :[

  3. Great wrap up! You had a wonderful week with some fantastic posts and reviews. I am glad you are enjoying Map of the Dark. It can be very rewarding to find those great reads in genres we don’t normally pick up. Hope you have a fantastic week ahead!

    1. Ha, I only bring out the wrap-up post when I’ve managed to post every day of the week…and it hardly ever happens!😂 The most dedicated of bloggers I am not!😂 Certainly won’t be daily posting over the next fortnight and next week it’s 4am starts at work, I guess blogging will be the last thing on my mind and all I’ll want to do is sleep.😂

It is! I do enjoy fantasy, it’ll always be my favourite genre but it’s nice to take a break and read something different. Being honest, at times fantasy can be rather deep and requires concentration so reading a different genre is a nice step away.

      1. I do not think you need to post daily to be dedicated haha. In fact, and sadly, I miss a lot of posts from bloggers who do more (like twice a day). I am just not able to read and keep up with it. But everyone has their own speed. I think you post plenty each week 😉
